About Me

Hi, my name's Pete Williams and I'd like to welcome you to Photography Mad!
My interest in photography first came from my father, who doesn't go anywhere without a camera in his hand, but it was while backpacking around Australia that I became much more seriously interested; it seemed that everywhere I turned there was a photograph begging to be snapped.
Upon returning home I began to work on improving my photography, learning as much as I could about the art and science of taking great photos. Along the way I decided to set up Photography Mad - a place where I can share and discuss what I have learned, meet likeminded people, and of course keep improving my own skills.
My Equipment
My camera of choice is the Canon 350D (aka Digital Rebel XT). I like it due to its compact dimensions, lightness, and excellent image quality. In situations where I don't want to risk damaging my DSLR, or if I just want a small camera I can slip into a pocket, I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15, which has a good quality lens and produces some great photos. The only other pieces of equipment I use on a regular basis are a sturdy tripod and a polarising filter.
I am a firm believer that you can achieve great results from even the most modest of cameras (if you don't believe me, check out some of David Moore's photos), so to me equipment is of secondary importance to the ongoing development of a keen eye and the ability to choose an interesting or unusual shooting angle; I believe it is these qualities that really set a great photographer apart.
You can get in touch with me via the contact page. I hope you enjoy the site, and happy snapping!
